"I think we emphasize sin so much that it makes us paralyzed, and glorify struggle so much that it makes us terrified, and de-emphasize the fact that we have been sterilized from our own lives and thus we gotta snap out of it. We ain't in no straight-jacket. We free! When Jesus died in our lives, something strange happened. He gave us power. Yeah I know that we sinners, but since He rose He's renewing the image of God in us."
And everyone turns around like
“What was that?”

This is how we worship in Costa Rica! Honestly, I miss the genuine excitement and emotion we expressed in worship as individuals, but corporately as well. Everyone was involved and everyone was on their feet! In no way am I saying the is the only way to worship and all other forms are illegitimate. All I’m saying is this was legit a fiesta, and it was so true and honest!

Is it just me, or is responsibility something that my generation is lacking? People are not willing to accept responsibility for anything. If they’ve been given something to do, they need to buckle down and do it. Straight up. They are too soft and too weak. They need to understand that life is not handed to them on a silver platter, but that they actually have to work for things. Life with mom and dad’s checkbook is not reality. What can we do about this? We need to step up and take responsibility, and it starts with the little things. #getmeouttahere

This semester, my long-term assignment for New Testament Survey has been to read through the New Testament and journal 100 words on each chapter. This equates to 26,000 words or about 40 pages. Upon first hearing of this assignment, I was terrified. All I could think of was that this would consume my life and about how much work I already have in that one class, not to mention all the rest of the work for my 18-credit load this semester. Nevertheless, I began the task of journaling on every chapter of the New Testament. At first I was disciplined in reading two chapters a day, but as the semester continued and work began to be piled on, my Bible journaling discipline began to slide, until I only had a month and a half left of second semester. Despite the fact that I still have 118 chapters, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to read the Bible for my schoolwork. I do not want to ever treat the Bible as a book that is merely academic, but having the opportunity to read and reflect on God’s Word in school is something I never thought I would be able to do. Praise God I can study His Word freely in my country!
